PresenterPhotoSylvia Maddox serves as the Assistant Dean of Students at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

Sylvia has worked in Students Affairs for 15 years. She plays a pivotal role in helping the College achieve one of its fundamental goals—educating the whole student—through a variety of programs and services offered through the Division of Student Affairs.  

A first-generation college student, she graduated from Central Texas College while serving in the U.S. Army. She later completed her Master of Business Administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in higher education at Jackson State university.

She currently serves as the Student Conduct officer, oversees the Student Conduct Hearing Board, and advises the Ford First Generation Scholars.  Sylvia is a member of National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP) Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
