How to Be a Better Ally Right Now – March 25, 2021

Date & Time
Thursday, March 25, 2021 • 2:00 – 3:30 pm ET
Overview
Take Action to Transform the Current Culture that Perpetuates Lack of Access, Bias, Harassment & Violence

Improving diversity, equity and inclusion is at the forefronts of our minds, locally, nationally and globally. Engaging in continued work in promoting understanding, acceptance and taking action against injustices related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ability and religion is non-negotiable. Many of us have been left wondering how we can do better and what we can do to help in real, meaningful ways.

Join us for a live, interactive webinar on March 25, 2021 when our expert presenter will offer crucial, actionable takeaways on how you and your staff members can serve as inclusion allies in supporting marginalized communities. You’ll walk away with tools to educate yourself, your staff and students; how to influence people, help them understand the role that they play and hold them accountable; recognize and learn from the mistakes you make; and use your privilege to speak up and support others.

Help to transform the current culture that perpetuates lack of access, bias, harassment and violence. Take action to improve your campus climate overall, recognize others’ identity and dignity, help people feel safe and accepted, and take a stand against injustice.

Registration: $399*

*You can have your team participate remotely for this price. After you place your order, you will receive instructions for additional log ins for your remote team members. In addition, 24 hours following the live webinar we will email you instructions for accessing the on-demand recording, which you may share with any staff members that were unable to attend the live event. Feel free to email us with any questions at info@paper-clip.com.

Topics Covered
You will take away critical, actionable tools that will help you:
  • Serve as an ally to marginalized communities — understand the different pathways of allyship so you and members of your community can better engage and respond to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion so you can “show up” as an ally, both in person and in virtual contexts.
  • Ignite conversation to transform your campus culture into one that no longer perpetuates lack of access, harassment and discrimination — start conversations to create deeper understanding and connections so you and your staff can consider your actions and reactions.
  • Discuss how your unique identities interplay with your role as an ally — continue your personal growth and develop your own code of ally ethics so you can help in real, meaningful ways.
  • Recognize the importance of individual action coupled with institutional policy when addressing systemic concerns such as racism and bias, through training, bias reporting and policy reform.
  • Adopt techniques for self-care to avoid martyrdom, ally exhaustion, emotional fatigue or burnout, including related to current issues surrounding COVID-19.
  • Utilize effective tools for educating your students and staff on how they can be engaged citizens on topics of social justice — challenge assumptions, evaluate your work and improve communication of your efforts.
  • Address current events around violence, civic unrest, various social and political movements, and self-care strategies and discuss tools for allyship around hate speech (while respecting the First Amendment) — gain practical tools for addressing these issues from a variety of angles.
