Panelist Bio – Dr. Meggen Tucker Sixbey
|
Dr. Meggen Tucker Sixbey is currently a Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Director of the University of Florida’s (UF) Counseling and Wellness Center located in Gainesville, Florida. Having completed the Gavin DeBecker Threat Assessment Academy, she is one of 12 mental health members on a federal team through the Bureau of Justice administration assisting in policy and procured development regarding police-mental health collaboration.
In this role, she directs the UF Crisis and Emergency Resource Center where she coordinates the counseling response to individual and campus crises, disasters, emergencies, and other traumatic events. She is a member of UF’s multidisciplinary threat assessment team where she offers mental health consultation regarding persons who pose potential safety risks to self or others. She provides trainings nationally on crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and the mental health provider’s role on threat assessment teams as well as trainings on assisting individuals in distress and psychological first aid.
