Beyond Compliance: Doing the Right Thing by our Students - March 29, 2017 Webinar & CD
ISBN/ISSN: PUB#AC1062 Beyond.Compliance.3.29.17
The increase in federal guidance, public awareness and scrutiny have cultivated a culture of fear of doing the wrong thing when responding to the spectrum of sexual violence on campuses. Operating from a place of fear increases opportunity for error, misjudgment, non-compliance and legal complaints.
Join our expert presenters as they share their insight into a multi-year process at the University of Notre Dame that strategically addressed the issue of sexual violence. This webinar will give you practical steps and solutions and ensure you understand “what is right” and how to create an opportunity to move beyond compliance towards true change at your institution!
Dr. William Stackman, Ph.D. currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Services at the University of Notre Dame. (Click here for full bio)
Christine Caron Gebhardt currently serves as the Director of Gender Relations Center at the University of Notre Dame. (Click here for full bio)
Heather Ryan currently serves at the Title IX Deputy Title IV Coordinator at the University of Notre Dame. (Click here for full bio)
At the conclusion of the 90-minute webinar, participants will be able to:
Create a comprehensive Title IX/VAWA prevention and response program that includes participation of key institution stakeholders (Title IX Coordinator, Prevention Educators, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Student Conduct Administrators, General Counsel and other relevant staff) ensures that the required policies and procedures on your campus are followed — train everyone who deals with any kind of investigation, education program or is a support system for complainants and respondents to avoid violations.
Apply best practices in record keeping and data collection, reporting and investigative processes — overcome potential challenges to ensure guidelines and rules are followed correctly.
Identify and understand how to get greater cross-campus collaboration to increase buy-in, a more comprehensive integration of bystander intervention and prevention education — improve response training throughout the student, faculty and staff experience to create a positive campus culture shift.
Incorporate new ideas and practical steps to adapt and enhance your current campus climate surveys and general program evaluations — improve community and campus partnerships, external perceptions and student satisfaction.
Anticipate challenges related to an increase in reporting, due process concerns, parental/advisor involvement and potential rise in counter complaints — create opportunities for strategic visioning, response and evaluation process and procedures related to Title IX and VAWA.
