Tallahassee Community College (FL) is working to harness the sun while protecting students from its rays. Campus walkways will soon be covered with solar-paneled canopies as part of a new sustainable project. The collected sunlight will be converted into electrical energy, while students will find shade and weather protection as they travel approximately 8,000 feet of walkway.

Other sustainability projects have been in the works at the college. The campus Ghazvini Center has a new solar roof over its patio area to provide health care students with shaded seating. The Wakulla Environmental Institute’s parking lot and agricultural area have solar panels, too.
